Fair Gets Connected

News and Updates to be Broadcast Using Technology from Missoula Startup Company Castmo.com

The company will be broadcasting news and updates related to the Fair which patrons can access by going to www.castmo.com and clicking on the “Connect with the Western Montana Fair” button. Patrons may also subscribe for a free membership and receive the Fair’s information via Castmo’s internal messaging system, email or text messaging.

During the Fair, Castmo.com will provide video monitors throughout the fairgrounds to keep visitors up to date on what’s happening. Castmo.com is also sponsoring the “Excite the Mind” science and technology center upstairs in the Commercial Building where people are invited to come and learn more about the company and how to use its web site.

Castmo.com will officially launch its web service that the company calls “anti-social” networking during this year’s Western Montana Fair.

“Unlike users of top social networking web sites our members retain complete ownership and control over their content, their connections are not visible to anyone, and we have a revenue model that doesn’t include selling off their information,” says Eric Smith, the company’s marketing and media relations manager. “As more lawsuits and criminal investigations are levied worldwide against our predecessors who haven’t given privacy and user rights much consideration, we hope to rise to the top by providing excellent services and being trustworthy.”

Kindergarten classes at Paxson Elementary and Missoula Community School plant the toppings from seedlings this Spring, Children's Museum will plant garlic on June 15, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MISSOULA, MT - June 10, 2010 - Visitors to the Western Montana Fair & Rodeo will have the opportunity to visit the West Lawn Pizza Garden August 10-15, 2010.
The Pizza Garden is a circular garden divided into pizza wedges, which represent the different ingredients and toppings for vegetarian pizza. The garden was started last fall by volunteers from 1000 New Gardens and a UM Environmental Studies class. It was the 29th garden started under the 1000 New Gardens program, according to Max Smith.

Last week Ms. LaRance's class took a field trip to the fairgrounds to learn about the Pizza Garden. All 18 students helped weed the garden in preparation of planting their seedlings. Earlier this Spring the class started basil, oregano and marigold seeds. "The students were delighted to pull weeds and discover worms in the garden," stated Ms. LaRance. Marigolds were planted to distract bugs in the gardens.

Miss Tiffany's class at the Missoula Community School contributed the peppers and tomatoes for the garden. The Children's Museum will arrive next Tuesday June 15, 2010 at noon to plant their garlic contribution. In addition they will hold a Teddy Bear Picnic for the community to participate. The Liscom family of Missoula will be contributing the remaining tomato plants later this summer.

For more information and to follow the pizza garden's progress over the summer, visit westernmontanafair.com. Volunteers are always welcome to assist with the garden.

Young Ladies ages 23 years and younger can vie for Queen, Princess, Little Miss and Jr. Little Miss titles to represent western heritage in Montana

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MISSOULA, MT - June 8, 2010 - The 2010 Missoula Stampede Rodeo pageant is seeking young women for the upcoming pageant August 10-15, 2010 during the Western Montana Fair & Rodeo. The contest is open to young ladies ages 23 years and younger for the Queen, Princess, Little Miss and Jr. Little Miss titles.

The Missoula Stampede Rodeo Queen and her court are the ambassadors for the Missoula Stampede Rodeo and Western Montana Fair. Throughout the year titleholders make public appearances representing both entities at civic functions, community events, parades, regional rodeos, schools and special events.

Young ladies do not need to own a horse to compete. Each contestant, however, is required to provide her own horse for horsemanship. Contestants are judged in three categories with equal emphasis given in horsemanship, personality and projection. In addition, judges are selected for their knowledge of horsemanship, rodeo and public relations.

Throughout the week, contestants will be judged on their personal appearance. Emphasis will be given in their ability to reflect a wholesome appearance and strength of character. Extensive and expensive clothing will not be given more credibility than good, clean attractive attire.

Each titleholder receives a trophy belt buckle, crown, sash and trophy saddle for the Queen. For complete details to enter, please reference the Quality Supply Premium Book on pages 72-73 or visit the westernmontanafair.com website.
